The Existence of Magic

Updated: Mar 23, 2020

The existence of magic and why you should recognize it.

Does magic exist? Of course it does. Why would it not? I loved it when people rush up on stage to obtain an award or speak. They said, “I didn’t get here by magic.” I usually cracked a smile because that person has told one of the biggest lies humans tell. I am going to tell you a universal truth. Everyone performs magic. The problem is most people do not know or realize they are doing it. Before you start to freak out or say blaspheme, think about it. I will prove it to you.

This is for people who do not have a religious or belief system that calls what they are doing magic. This activity requires you to be brutally honest with yourself. What is brutal honesty? It is complete honesty, and the truth speaks for itself. This means there is no holding back. If a duck walks like a duck, talks like a duck, and looks like a duck, then it is a duck. Most people fail at this because we do not want to see ourselves in a negative light. Like nature, we contain both light and dark qualities. It is only by seeing these qualities for what they truly are can we change and grow.

Back to proving the existence of magic, this activity requires brutal honesty. I am going to list few beliefs or actions. Be honest and admit if you participate in believing or performing one, some, or all of the following:

· Praying

· Law of Attraction

· Meditating

· Using Electricity

If you answer yes to any of these beliefs or actions, you admitted you preform magic. There are many more examples I can provide. Think about what I have just said for a moment. Each belief or action can be explained depending on your perception. For instance, let’s take prayer. When we pray, we request that a divine being to do something for us or someone that we cannot do for ourselves. Or we give thanks to what we believe that the divine being has provided for us. You are telling me that you do not believe in magic, but you believe in a being with God like or supernatural powers that will do what you requested? Or you are thanking this being for giving or providing you with things you would not have had on your own?

The Law of Attraction is “the ability to attract into our lives whatever we are focusing on.” You have positive thoughts and focus on obtaining goals, opportunities will appear. The reverse is the opposite for negative thoughts. You may be saying, “I do have positive thoughts, and I did not ask for all the negative things to happen to me.” The universe is does not give handouts. You will have to earn what you want. Life will throw you challenges and obstacles along the way. The outcome depends on your mindset, and how you react to what is occurring. If you have a victim mindset (everything happens to me, and I am innocent of everything), then you will not be able to see those opportunities the universe is providing. Opportunities do not always appear the way we want them to or perceive them to. Life is a journey of opportunities (whether seen, taken, or missed). When life presents those opportunities, do you take them or shun from them because of fear? Either way, magic is occurring.

Meditation is to “think deeply or focus one's mind for a period of time, in silence or with the aid of chanting, for religious or spiritual purposes or as a method of relaxation.” (Lexico, 2020) The mind is a one of the most unknown territories people have long and continue to explore. Meditation contains many good benefits like lowers stressed, lowers blood pressure, enhances focus, and connectedness to others. Studies show these and other beneficial results time and time again. The way one thinks has everything to do with magic.

Your perception is also influenced by the definitions you give things. Webster’s Dictionary (2020) defines magic as “the use of means believed to have supernatural powers over natural forces.” Think about that for a moment. At one time, people did not understand what caused a bolt of lightning to come across the sky or its purpose, or how electricity light up people’s homes. To them, it was a form of magic. You may say, “Nikki, that is science.” You are right. What is the difference between magic and science? The difference is simple. Science is explained magic. Magic is everything else.

My friend, Dorothy Morrison said, “Magic is not a practice. It is a living, breathing web of energy that, with our permission, can encase our every action.” My definition of magic is the art and science of vibration and making the mind shifts necessary to fulfill the goal at will. According to the laws of quantum physics, everything around us is in a constant state of vibration. Vibration provides with an illusion things are solid, liquid, or air. In magic, we clear our minds. Focus on the vibration of the molecules, and steer them to change. This change comes in a variety of forms, including prayer, ritual, meditation, or flipping on a light switch.

Magic contains one thing that I personally believe we all should have…wonder. Wonder grants us curiosity to discover new things about ourselves and the world around us. It provides the element of imagination so we can create and develop new things. Wonder keeps the world from being boring.

Author Neil Gaiman wrote, “If you choose magic you will never be able to return to the life you once lived. As you begin to walk the path of magic, you can never step off of it.” Now that you realize magic exist, what will you do with that knowledge? Will you continue to grow and expand or go back to the dark ages? Personally, I never will step off the magic path of life. It is too fun, adventurous, and growing.
